To instill an addictive training routine fueled by motivation and enthusiasm with the specific goal of enhancing one's ability to box.
Ricky Ray Taylor has been a pro-active member of the boxing community since his first bout in 1982. He won numerous state and regional championships as a competitive fighter, amassing over 100 bouts in a career that spanned over 10 years.
In 1989, a year after reaching the finals of the regional qualification round for the '88 Olympic box-offs, Taylor was granted a full-ride athletic scholarship funded entirely by the Olympic Education Center. The scholarship called for Taylor to live, train and compete from the OEC which was based on the campus of Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan while preparing for the '92 Olympic box-offs.
Since his last competitive bout in '93, Taylor's enthusiasm for boxing has manifested into active roles of certified referee, judge, timekeeper and now, boxing trainer.
Currently, Ricky Ray motivates and instructs boxing enthusiasts as a boxing trainer in New York City. He teaches the sport to white and blue-collar professionals as well as competitive fighters, housewives and anyone with a willingness to learn the sweet science.
